The Big Brother of the Gorons is in no mood to talk to a little elfin kid from the forest. He’s got the weight of the Goron’s problems on his shoulder. Proud and courageous, he’s not willing to accept any help from outsiders either. Fortunately for Link, it’s easy to soften up Darunia, all he needs is a little music. Unfortunately, Darunia has already heard Zelda’s Lullaby, and is craving something different. Something “green and natural.” Such a song can only come from Link’s forest home, the Lost Woods.
It’s a long way back to the Lost Woods from Death Mountain. Link can walk all the way back, but there is an easier way. In one of the tunnels in Goron City, Link can clearly hear the music from the Lost Woods, but the path is blocked by boulders. Bomb Flowers grow on the walls nearby, yet even with the Goron Bracelet, they will prove to be out of Link’s reach. In order to set off these explosive plants, Link will need to somehow get fire from Darunia’s room to the bombs to open the warp tunnel.
Once through the tunnel to the Lost Woods, Link should find his old friend Saria. Since she gave Link the Ocarina, she probably knows a tune for it. Link’s friends in Kokiri Forest will only tell him that Saria is in the “usual place.” By that, they mean Saria’s special place deep in the Lost Woods, which is known as the Sacred Forest Meadow. Link must make his way through a hedge maze full of spiteful Deku Scrubs to reach his friend Saria and learn her song.
After learning the song, head back to Darunia and play it for him.
