Evil creatures usually are never able to grow under the protective boughs of the Great Deku Tree. The state of the forest, however, is indicative of the decay in the Great Deku Tree's power. And the recent appearance of many "meanies" is evidence that the Deku Tree's might is fading. Link will have to prove his courage by defeating many adversaries to break the curse that has been cast on the tree.

Deku Stick

Deku Scrub

Cowardly and weak, the Deku Scrubs will hide in their grassy burrows if Link approaches them. However, they will take every opportunity to attack from a safe distance by spitting Deku Seeds at their target.

Deku Nut

Deku Baba

These twisted carnivorous plants come in two varieties. The more dangerous type will lunge and snap its leafy jaws at anything that comes near. Another kind simply clacks its jaws harmlessly as it stands straight up. It will damage Link if he touches it, though.

Skulltula

A wide variety of arachnids crawl in dark and secluded areas of the forest, and many have nested in the hollows of the Great Deku Tree's trunk. The skull-like marking should give Link a clue that they are not friendly.
